Peab has been awarded a contract by Avinor, an airport operating company, to develop the New Bodø Airport in Norway.
The contract, valued at Nkr3.3bn ($299.47m), includes the construction of a new runway, taxiways, and parking spaces for aircraft.
Preparatory work such as the removal of vegetation, demolition of old infrastructure, and blasting has already been completed in the area.
The contract with Peab is structured into two phases, namely a development and implementation phase.
The first phase involved collaboration between Avinor, Peab, subcontractors, and consultants to develop and optimise solutions for the airport and establish a target price.
With the completion of this phase, the project is now progressing to the implementation phase.

By GlobalDataPeab Civil Engineering Norway MD Johan Hansson said: “This is a historic contract and the largest Peab has received in Norway.
“I would like to thank Avinor for entrusting us and our close cooperation in the first phase of the project. Now we’re looking forward to starting construction of the airport which will be a big boost for the entire Bodø region.”
Throughout the construction process, Peab will work closely with local subcontractors and suppliers.
Construction is expected to commence immediately, with an expected completion date in June 2028.
The project’s order will be registered by Peab in the second quarter (Q2) of this year.
Separately, Peab has secured a contract to reconstruct and expand the Lucerna wastewater treatment plant in Västervik.
Valued at Skr248m, the project is commissioned by Västervik Miljö och Energi.
These awards come shortly after Peab received a traditional contract to construct a new transformer station in Kanstadbotn earlier this week.
