Nordic community builder Peab has been awarded a turnkey contract by client Burlöv Municipality to construct a primary school, situated between Arlöv and Åkarp in Sweden.

This follows an initial phase contract where Peab collaborated with the client to define an optimised product, quality standards, and risk management strategies.

The project has now entered its second phase with the signing of the construction contract, which is in partnering form.

The school will span a roughly 14,000m² area across two floors, featuring an integrated sports hall.

Additionally, a section of the building spanning three floors will have an auditorium and adjoining meeting rooms.

The school will also have an accessible roof with walkways, greenery, a wooden slat facade, as well as an indoor environment.

Peab region manager Olle Olsson said: “This is a vital investment in the future of the residents of Arlöv and we’re proud to be able to contribute with our expertise. This is a very important project for us as a community builder.”

Complying with Miljöbyggnad Silver 4.0 standards, the project commenced preparatory work in early 2024, with completion scheduled for the late-year term of 2026.

The contract was officially registered by Peab in the second quarter of 2024.

This announcement comes after Peab received a commission from Skellefteå Municipality to construct the Arctic Center of Energy in the region.

Situated within the university campus in Skellefteå, the project, known as Campus ACE, will feature a building constructed with a cross-laminated timber frame.
