Peab, a Nordic construction company, has been awarded a Skr200m ($19.7m) contract to construct a new nursing home and preschool in Trönninge, Varberg, Sweden.
The project, initiated by Varbergs Fastighets, a subsidiary of Varbergs Stadshus wholly owned by Varberg Municipality, will feature a three-storey building with modern and sustainable facilities.
The new centre is designed to foster intergenerational interactions and provide shared spaces for various activities.
The nursing home will house 60 residents across six wards while the preschool will accommodate 80 children, split into two sections.
The building will offer childcare services during evenings, nights, and weekends, as well as premises for home-care services.
The construction will focus on creating outdoor environments conducive to both relaxation and exercise, with shared green spaces and parking facilities.
Peab will commence work immediately, with an anticipated completion date in late 2027.
This turnkey contract will be registered by the company in the first quarter of 2025.
Peab region manager Stellan Haraldsson said: “We’re very pleased to have been entrusted with this project. At Peab we have extensive experience in building public buildings like nursing homes and preschools and look forward to building a safe centre that improves the quality of life for both our elderly and our youngest citizens.”
Varbergs Fastighets construction project managers Frida Gren and Marcus Bergman added: “We’re looking forward to working together with Peab to build a nursing home and preschool for the future in Trönninge.”
Recently, Peab has secured a Skr268m contract from Vårgårda Municipality to construct a new nursing home with 100 apartments in Vårgårda, Sweden.
