Nordic community builder Peab has secured a turnkey contract to construct an industrial building in the Fosie area of eastern Malmö, Sweden.

The Skr166m ($15.48m) contract, which is in partnering form, has been awarded by Wihlborgs Fastigheter.

Earlier this month, Wihlborgs signed a 20-year agreement with food solutions company Caldic Ingredients Nordic for this project.

Caldic is relocating both its production and offices to the facility.

The new building will feature a mix of offices, warehousing, and processing space designed for food handling.

It will be constructed adhering to the Miljöbyggnad Gold and LFM30 sustainability standards.

These requirements are part of a local initiative to foster a climate-neutral construction and civil engineering sector within the city.

Peab region manager Olle Olsson said: “We are pleased and proud to have been entrusted with the construction of this new industrial building for Wihlborgs and thereby contribute to the local business community. It’s a great example of our locally produced community building.”

Construction is expected to commence immediately, with the completion and move-in date anticipated in late 2025.

The project will be reflected in Peab’s order books in the second quarter of 2024.

Last month, Peab secured a contract from airport operating company Avinor to develop the New Bodø Airport in Norway.

The Nkr3.3bn contract encompasses the construction of a new runway, taxiways, and aircraft parking spaces.
