Peab has been commissioned to build a new central kitchen for Palvelukeskus Helsinki in Vantaa, Finland.
The contract, with Kiinteistö Oy AB Pakkalantie 30, is valued at €35m ($36m).
Palvelukeskus Helsinki is a City of Helsinki-run service that supports educational institutions and the welfare sector, providing essential services such as meals, cleaning, and care.
The project involves constructing a new building adjacent to the existing central kitchen, featuring dedicated spaces for food production, distribution, and support functions.
Once completed, the new central kitchen will prepare meals for school children, as well as Helsinki residents in need of care.
The building will be energy efficient, incorporating geothermal heat and solar panels, as well as heat recovery from cooking processes.
