Oman’s Ministry of Transport has unveiled its plans to build the new Muscat Airport City as part of the National Aviation Strategy 2030.
The aim of the National Aviation Strategy 2030 is to strengthen the country’s economy by improving the aviation industry in Oman.
As part of the strategy, the Oman Aviation Group has adopted a master plan to build Muscat Airport City. The plan aims for optimum utilisation of the new airport’s capacity and the increasing air traffic.
It will also take advantage of land areas surrounding the airport to create a stimulating environment for establishing aviation-related projects.
The new Muscat Airport City will consist of five main areas including the Muscat Airport Free Zone with an area of 3.3 million m² for light industries and storage activities for air freight, e-commerce, manufacturing and packaging of national products, in addition to aviation equipment and office spaces.
The second area will be a 200,000m² of logistics portal, an area for air freight services and logistics including the air freight building at Muscat Airport.
