The City of Gulf Shores in Alabama, US, has initiated the Phase II of its Gulf Place project, planned and designed by architecture firm TSW.
Designed to reinforce the connection between beachfront public park and coastal downtown walking district, the Gulf Place design comprises three Phases, the first of which is complete.
The project is intended to improve the safety of pedestrian and cyclists, as well as provide new recreation facilities with a family-friendly approach.
While Phase I focused on new parking and event space, public safety building and restrooms, beach promenade, dune restoration, shade pavilion and formal palm court, Phase II includes an extension of the promenade, children’s playground and amphitheatre, among others.
Upon completion, the Gulf Place is expected to provide more than 6,000 linear feet of new multi-use bike and walking paths with access to a beach.
TSW designed the project to withstand any future weather-related damage such as storm surge.
