The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) has shortlisted six developers to build about 1,500 homes at the East Wick and Sweetwater neighbourhoods on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The shortlisted developers are Carillion-igloo and Genesis Housing Association, Grainger, Lend Lease, L&Q, Mace and Argent, Places for People and Balfour Beatty.
All six developers will now go through to the next stage of the bidding process and a winner will be announced this autumn.
Located in the north-west of the park next to Hackney Wick, the East Wick neighbourhood will gain about 870 new homes, townhouses, mews, studios and flats.
Plans include a new primary school and two new nurseries, 91,000m² of residential space, 5,300m² of employment space, 5,600m² of community space and 4,700m² of retail and leisure space.
In the south-west of the park near Old Ford and the Copper Box Arena will be the Sweetwater neighbourhood, which will feature about 650 new homes, studios, flats, and family homes with private gardens.

By GlobalDataSweetwater will also include new primary school, two new nurseries, a health centre, 67,700m² of residential space, 1,000m² of employment space, 8,400m² community space and 2,500m² retail space.
LLDC chief executive Dennis Hone said the corporation is now focused on working with the developers on the next stage of the process.
“We are entering the most exciting stage in the transformation of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park,” Hone said.
“The south of the park opens to the public on 5 April, work will start on the first new neighbourhood, Chobham Manor, in the summer, and our plans for a new educational and cultural quarter with the V&A and UCL are taking shape.”
