US-based real estate developer Pacific Retail Capital Partners has completed work on outdoor murals on a shopping centre in the country.

The 20,000ft² outdoor murals at Eastridge, in San Jose, California, US, feature Californian artists Brendan Monroe, Lila Gemellos, Aaron De La Cruz, and CYRCLE.

Pacific Retail Capital Partners marketing senior vice-president Najla Kayyem said: “The opportunity to partner with four talented muralists to create an unparalleled public art series is very special.

“Immediately, the energy and excitement around Eastridge have changed and we’re reminded how art can transform perceptions, fuel urban revitalisation, and become an economic stimulus.”

The new concept of designing the blank exterior walls around the Eastridge shopping centre with expansive murals has been introduced by Gensler, a global architectural, design and planning company.

Gensler retail centres practice area leader and principal Annmarie Brintnall said: “Most enclosed malls are the ultimate expression of the blank wall.

The company also came up with the idea of incorporating approximately 16,000ft2 of super graphics to transform more than 36,000ft² of the exterior facade at Eastridge.

The murals are part of Eastridge’s redevelopment, including the fitting of a 30ft interior digital wall, the four large-scale murals, and installation of children’s art.
