Northrop Grumman has opened its new corporate headquarters building at 2,980 Fairview Park Drive in Falls Church, Virginia, US, which was designed to achieve LEED Gold Certification.
The new corporate office has 334,000ft² of space, including offices, open workspace, conference rooms, an exercise facility, a conference centre and food services.
The 14-storey office incorporates cooling and heating equipment and layers of automated operational controls in the design to maximise efficiency and reduce environmental energy use by up to 30%.
The building also includes plumbing fixtures that reduce water consumption by over 35%, the use of recycled and locally extracted and manufactured materials, and low-chemical-emitting paints, sealants, carpeting and adhesives to improve indoor air quality.
In addition, the company has installed advanced lighting control systems and highly efficient lighting throughout the building to reduce energy consumption by 15%.
