Joint venture partners behind the 20-acre NOMA scheme The Co-operative Group and Hermes Investment Management have submitted plans to Manchester City Council for developing a mobile pub in the area.
To be named the Pilcrow, the pub will be ‘built by hand using disappearing construction crafts and contemporary design’, NOMA said.

Planned as a temporary structure, the build will be driven by professional craftspeople and involve local volunteers for construction.
It will be moved around the NOMA neighbourhood during stages of development and offer people ‘the chance to take part in the building process itself and learn new skills’.
A series of free-to-attend workshops will allow groups of volunteers to be taught a new skill, then spend several days putting into action the skills they have learnt by constructing a part of the pub themselves.

Ben Young will be overseeing the project development for NOMA.
Following council approval, development of the Pilcrow is estimated to start from January next year, and NOMA intends to inaugurate the pub for first orders in late-2016.
The pub is planned for development beside the scheme’s new city square, near Manchester’s Victoria train station.
NOMA director David Pringle said: "We want NOMA to be a place for people and what better way to do this than with a unique pub built by everyone.
"We looked at a variety of options, but the ambitious, original, imaginative and innovative nature of this idea really appealed to us."
