Wandsworth Council in London, UK, has unveiled the shortlisted design proposals for a pedestrian and cycle bridge being built over the Thames River, connecting Pimlico and Nine Elms.
Four entries have been selected from 74 initial entries, by teams from BuroHappold, Bystrup Architecture Design Engineering, and Ove Arup & Partners.

Two of the shortlisted proposals are from Ove Arup & Partners, which includes plans for spiralling staircases and snake-like ramps linking the bridge to the riverbank.
The council has invited city residents to comment on the four alternative designs, which will be on display at exhibitions in Wandsworth and Westminster.
Development of Nine Elms has already forwarded £26m for the bridge construction.
The winning design, which is expected to be chosen later in the year, will be used to attract further funding for the project.
Wandsworth Council leader Ravi Govindia said: "We now have some very exciting and quite spectacular designs on the table.
"There is still a long way to go but these teams have given us real hope that a solution can be found to the complex challenges involved in creating a new pedestrian and cycle link across this stretch of the river."
The main challenge was to produce a plan where the the bridge would be high enough above the banks to allow passage of large vessels underneath, but not too steep for cyclists and pedestrians to cross.
The development will be included in the infrastructure package needed to support growth in Nine Elms on the South Bank, and would require approval from the planning system before it could be built.
