US-based healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente has opened a new replacement hospital at its Redwood City Medical Center.
The launch represents the company’s third new hospital in Northern California (NC) this year.
The seven-storey, 280,000ft² structure located at the corner of Veterans Boulevard and Walnut Street is adjacent to the building it replaces and meets the state’s new seismic-safety standards that come into effect on 1 January 2015.
Kaiser’s new hospital features neuro-interventional radiology suites, neurological CT scans, neuro-interventional imaging suites and neurological and orthopedic operating rooms.
Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan in Northern California group president and regional president Gregory Adams said: "Our new Redwood City hospital is the culmination of a $2bn commitment by Kaiser Permanente to our members and the communities we serve.
"We are an industry leader in delivering high-quality, affordable healthcare and, as the third new facility we have opened this year, the Redwood City hospital reflects our commitment to providing exceptional, patient-centered care to our members in modern, up-to-date facilities."
