Bosch has partnered with Boston-based real estate development company Taurus Investment to launch an energy-smart housing community in Austin, Texas.

Under the joint project, Bosch will equip the new Whisper Valley community with geothermal heat pumps, hot water systems and quiet design appliances.

Eventually, Whisper Valley is planned to include some 7,500 single and multi-family homes and apartments, in addition to more than two million ft2 of retail and office space across the 2,062-acre site.

The structures will be geothermal and solar equipped, and capable of achieving the net zero energy standard adopted by Austin’s Municipal Building Code for all new construction homes.

Bosch, along with other manufacturing partners BASF, Rehau, Lighting Science Group and Aten Solar, is said to be part of Taurus’ EcoSmart Solution (ESS) subsidiary, which develops and implements alternative energy structure programmes in real estate projects.

The company will apply ESS’ solution to Whisper Valley to meet the growing demands of energy-conscious homebuyers.

Whisper Valley homes will use Bosch heat-pump hot water heaters and also include an array of ENERGY STAR-rated kitchen appliances from Bosch.
