BAM Bouw en Techniek has joined forces with Honeywell to install a new building management system at Amsterdam ArenA, the Netherlands, in order to manage technical systems and enable preventative maintenance.
The building management system will gather data from connected sensory equipment, which will then be analysed by BAM and Honeywell.
The data analysis will be used to detect failures, and allow maintenance work to be carried out before any inconvenience arises.
BAM Bouw en Techniek director Jaap Hazeleger said: “BAM aims to fully design and build projects in virtual reality prior to physically realising them.
“Digitisation will change the construction process dramatically. We will apply the latest technology, such as digital design, modular design and construction and predicting future maintenance with sensors and big data to the Amsterdam ArenA.”
BAM will serve as the main contractor for all technology, and use the new system to realise a cost reduction for energy consumption, maintenance as well as management of Amsterdam ArenA's facilities.

By GlobalDataMeasuring and control equipment and sensors will be supplied and installed by Honeywell throughout the stadium.
Both BAM and Honeywell will together act as strategic partner to the stadium for ten years, and continue to apply new technological developments.
Honeywell managing director John Brussel said: “The new building management system will also provide connectivity for data and the Internet of Things (IoT).
“All collected data will be linked through the web to the Outcome Based Services (OBS) platform of Honeywell.”
Amsterdam ArenA was built by BAM in a joint venture with Ballast Nedam at a cost of €140m. Construction began in 1993 and was completed in 1996.
The stadium features a retractable roof combined with a grass surface, and has a capacity of 53,892 seats for football matches and 68,000 seats for concert events.
