Nestlé Purina PetCare has announced its plans to construct a $550m new factory in Ohio, the US, to meet the growing demand for nutritious pet foods.
To be built at Williamsburg Township’s South Afton Industrial Park, the new 1.2 million ft2 facility is expected to employ over 300 people by 2024. Most of the jobs will include professional staff, production operators, technical staff and engineers.
The company plans to commence construction work of the new factory in this fall, and the facility is expected to be operational in 2023.
Once operational, the new factory will produce dry dog and cat food brands that include Purina Pro Plan, Purina ONE and Dog Chow.
Purina said that the design of its facility will be inspired by Nestlé facilities across the world and will be constructed as per its quality and food safety standards.
It will make use of robotics and innovative digital tools. The facility will also feature a training centre to promote learning and development.
