NCC has been selected by Brabrand Boligforening for a refurbishment project in the Gellerup district of Aarhus, Denmark, valued at approximately Skr1bn ($90m).
This initiative is part of a broader scheme to enhance housing standards in the area.
The refurbishment will encompass the renewal of surface finishes, bathrooms, roofs, and installations within the residential units, including the addition of new ventilation systems. Additionally, the project will see the refurbishment of facades, windows, and doors.
Further modifications will involve the remodelling of some residential units, with a select few being adapted to improve accessibility. The project also aims to revitalise the outdoor spaces, enhancing functionality and security for the community.
Scheduled to commence in early 2025, the refurbishment is expected to reach completion in 2029.
The contract will be recorded in the NCC Building Nordics division during the fourth quarter of 2024.

By GlobalDataNCC Building Nordics head Catarina Molén-Runnäs said: “We have, for example, carried out two pilot projects to assess different options, innovative solutions and challenges that this type of project can face. We will now use the lessons learned from these pilots to ensure the most efficient and successful project possible. We’re looking forward to getting started on the refurbishment.”
Brabrand Boligforening chief executive officer Kristian Würtz said: “With these upgrades and improvements, this ambitious refurbishment project will ensure that our residential and outdoor environments remain attractive for existing and future residents. This will be done at the same time as we preserve and refine the architecture and housing quality in the modernist-inspired apartment blocks built at the end of the 1960s.”
Earlier this month, NCC secured a contract with Sporveien to refurbish the Majorstuten metro station in Oslo, Norway.
The company has also been awarded a Skr330m contract to construct 185 apartments in the Västerbro district of Lund, Sweden, for Tetra Laval Real Estate.
