Nordic construction company NCC has announced an extensive refurbishment and renovation project to modernise Ryhov County Hospital in Jönköping, Sweden.
This project is part of a framework agreement that NCC entered with Region Jönköping.
The value of this contract is approximately Skr220m ($19.76m), and the project will be undertaken as part of a strategic partnering agreement.
The contract is the first of three different subprojects that comprise the overarching Akutspåret development, with each suborder placed independently.
NCC will redesign nursing wards at the site to develop single rooms featuring toilets and showers, construct an integrated rehabilitation ward, and deploy new technological systems across the building throughout the subproject.
The project will also see the remodelling of the clinic, daycare centre, and stroke and neurological rehabilitation facility.

By GlobalDataRegionfastigheter Jönköping construction project manager Thomas Svärd said: “Effective cooperation between Region Jönköping and NCC through the partnering agreement for Akutspåret has culminated in an order for the first subproject for the Ryhov County Hospital. This cooperation paves the way for subsequent stages in the partnering agreement.”
NCC will enter this order into its Building Sweden business segment for the fourth quarter (Q4) of this year.
Construction work is expected to begin in Q4 this year, with completion expected in Q4 2025.
NCC Building Sweden commercial manager Andreas Saltin said: “It is extremely gratifying to be part of constructing the healthcare of the future together with Region Jönköping at Ryhov County Hospital.
“As Sweden’s largest hospital builder, with many specialists and extensive experience from other hospitals, we are convinced that we can guarantee a result that meets future healthcare needs.”
Earlier this month, renewable project developer OX2 granted a turnkey contract valued at roughly Skr280m to NCC for the construction of the foundations and roads for a wind farm in Ånglarna, Sweden.
