Nordic construction company NCC has been awarded a contract to build a multipurpose building near the Tuira school in Oulu, Finland.
Awarded by the city of Oulu, the value of the contract is estimated at Skr260m ($23.41m).
This space-efficient complex will cover an area of 8,500m² and will be two storeys high.
It will house school activities, youth services, adult education and a library, with a capacity for 650 students, from preschoolers to grade nine.
The new multipurpose structure will be built near the Tuira school, a cultural landmark since 1900. A hallway will connect the two structures for easy access.
NCC Building Nordics head Catarina Molén-Runnäs stated: “NCC has constructed many school buildings and in cooperation with our client we will now create premises for several different activities, where we are bringing together old and new. It will be an impressive building that we are looking forward to constructing.”

NCC will enter this contract into its NCC Building Nordics business segment for the fourth quarter of 2023.
In March 2023, the builder secured a Skr190m contract from the Oulun Tilapalvelut to construct the Linnanmaa swimming pool facility in Oulu.
