Nordic construction company NCC has secured a contract from Birger Bostad, a part of property developer Fabege, to build 285 apartments for Haga Norra, Solna, Sweden.

The estimated value of this turnkey contract, which is being delivered in partnering form, is Skr450m ($44.24m).

Kvarter Five is the next phase of development in Haga Norra, a growing city neighbourhood in northern Stockholm.

The scope of NCC’s works includes constructing 210 tenant-owned apartment units and 75 rental apartments, which will be distributed across a connected block with a common inner courtyard and an underground garage.

Apartments will range in size from studios to five-bedroom homes with balconies or patios.

Fabege projects and development director Klas Holmgren said: “We look forward to developing further residential units in Haga Norra together with NCC. Residential units are an important parameter of our vision for the area, which aims to create a vibrant and attractive city neighbourhood.”

The units will be ecologically certified in line with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and will have minimal energy consumption, enabling reduced operating and maintenance costs.

NCC Building Sweden head Henrik Landelius said: “We have collaborated with Fabege on many projects in the past few years and are now looking forward to the first residential housing project with Birger Bostad.

“We have focused on the project’s climate footprint during the project planning phase by reviewing the possibility of using recycled bricks and eco-friendly concrete.

“The apartments will also be environmentally certified according to the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.”

Construction is set to begin in the first quarter of next year and is scheduled to be completed in 2026.

NCC will enter this order in its Building Sweden business segment in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Earlier this month, NCC entered a subproject for the construction of a new emergency hospital in Västerås, Sweden.
