Multiplex has announced the completion of AMP Capital’s 50-storey office building ‘Quay Quarter Tower’, constructed in Sydney, Australia.
Danish architect 3XN designed the Quay Quarter Tower in consultation with Australian architectural firm BVN.
AMP’s new building features a ‘jenga like’ design that consists of five shifting glass volumes stacked upon each other, as well as an atrium space.
Each atrium base is linked to an external terrace. The trium floor levels are connected by a spiral staircase internally.
AMP has converted an existing 45-year-old 45,000m² office building into the 89,000m² sustainable commercial tower.
AMP Capital Real Estate global head Kylie O’Connor said: “We are proud to have found the right balance between creating [an] exceptional mixed-use amenity, revitalising a significant CBD precinct, and delivering sustainable outcomes for our investors in such an iconic development.

By GlobalData“Quay Quarter Tower will truly further Sydney’s vision and credentials as a global and green city, and the timing couldn’t be better for breathing new life into one of the oldest parts of the Sydney CBD.”
The development also features a 4,000m² retail podium and has achieved 89% pre-leasing commitment including Deloitte, AMP and AMP Capital, EQT, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Johnson Winter & Slattery, and The Work Project.
Multiplex regional managing director David Ghannoum said: “It is undeniably the most complex build ever undertaken in Australia, and embodies true innovation and a range of engineering feats while also setting new standards in both Australian and global construction methodologies.”
The company noted that a unique ‘top down, bottom up’ methodology was employed for delivering the project.
Quay Quarter Tower provides urban green space with a podium terrace and public art and sky terraces across the building’s multiple levels.
AMP Capital Wholesale Office Fund, and Dexus Wholesale Property Fund jointly own the development.
