Suffolk County Council has appointed the Eastern Counties business of Morgan Sindall Construction and building design consultants Concertus to build a new primary school and pre-school in Lakenheath, UK.
This new 1,500ft² project is procured under the Suffolk Construction and Building Services Framework.
The Lakenheath Primary and Pre-School is said to become the region’s first net-zero primary school.
Concertus associate director Darren Fellowes said: “We are pleased to be working closely with Suffolk County Council Children and Young People (CYP) team and existing school to design their first net-zero school.
“Having been involved since the inception stages, we have overcome many acoustic challenges due to its proximity to the RAF Lakenheath air base.”
Spanning across two storeys, the school will feature leisure and recreational facilities and hard and soft landscaped exterior play spaces.
