UK-based company McLaren Construction’s Midlands and North division has stated that the construction process is on track for a 323-bedroom student accommodation development on Talbot Street in Nottingham, England.
Work on the £25.8m ($32.2m) project, located at 77 Talbot Road, is advancing as per plan and is scheduled to welcome students this September.
Designed by Leonard Design Architects, an architecture and master planning company, the nine-storey building will replace a former five-storey office block.
The upper level of the building will feature studio apartments with larger layouts that will provide views over Nottingham.
The project will offer amenities such as an on-site gym, yoga room, and social study spaces and is also set to include an entertainment room with a cinema on the Wollaton ground floor.
It focuses on sustainability and is aiming for a BREEAM Excellent rating. The development includes aspects using traditional foundations in Nottingham’s sandstone bedrock and following strict planning conditions such as cave probing to safeguard the local environment.
Important milestones in the project so far include the completion of the roof structure and the opening of a marketing suite on Talbot Street in late 2024.
Interior enhancements are underway to improve the living experience, with feature walls and upgraded soft furnishings.
McLaren Construction division director Darren Harding said: “The Talbot Street project is progressing exceptionally well, and we are proud to be delivering high-quality, sustainable accommodation for students that will enhance Nottingham’s offering.
“The completion of the roof and the opening of the marketing suite mark key achievements, and we are excited to continue bringing this ambitious development to life in the coming months.”
Approximately 40% of the workforce for the Talbot Street project has been sourced locally.
The development is being delivered by McLaren Construction on behalf of McLaren Property, a residential and student accommodation developer.
Last month, McLaren Construction was chosen by O&H Properties for the first phase of a mixed-use development in London’s West End, England.
