British construction company Kier has been selected for the development of a new endoscopy building at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) in Farnborough, England, UK.
The contract, which has been awarded by the King’s College Hospital National Health Service (NHS) Foundation Trust, is valued at approximately £25m ($32m).
Once open, the 2,400m² building is expected to improve the delivery of vital health services, primarily in the South London region.
The two-storey facility will also support the hospital’s goal of providing care for up to 4,500 additional cancer patients annually.
The new building has been designed to improve the patient experience, with the patient’s journey adhering to accredited pathways set out by the Joint Advisory Group on Gastro-Intestinal Endoscopy.
Additional facilities within the new building will include dedicated space for consultation, treatment, as well as recovery along with a sterile services unit.
