Kier has been appointed to construct a new special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) school in the London Borough of Hillingdon, England, UK.
The Pinn River School project, backed by the UK Department for Education (DfE), will be managed by the Eden Academy Trust and aims to support children and young adults with severe learning difficulties.
Eden Academy Trust CEO Susan Douglas CBE said: “The Eden Academy Trust is delighted to be trusted with establishing Pinn River School. We know the life-changing impact that a successful special school has on the pupil and their whole family.
“We are proud to work with the DfE, Hillingdon Council, and Kier to create this state-of-the-art school which also provides more places so that more pupils are in the right setting. We can’t wait to welcome pupils to Pinn River School once Kier complete its construction.”
The new school will accommodate 180 students aged four to 19, specialising in the educational requirements of those with autism and multisensory impairments.
It will feature an array of learning venues, including classrooms, learning hubs, life skills rooms, activity spaces, and therapeutic resources such as rebound therapy and a hydro pool.
