Jeffersonville city officials and community leaders have broken ground on Pike Elementary School in the Greater Clark County School District, Indiana, US, reported WLKY.
The new school will replace the Wilson and Thomas Jefferson Elementary buildings. It is being built adjacent to the existing Wilson Elementary building at 2915 Charlestown Pike.

Wilson Elementary will be demolished and repurposed into sports fields after the two-storey, 145,000ft² Pike Elementary School building is finished.
The project will see the involvement of Jamie Lake of J. Lake Architecture & Design, CORE Construction, and AML Construction.
Lake said: “So we’re building a new educational facility here to house two schools and bring those two schools into one.
“And [we are] just so excited to see what those teachers and staff and students do with the educational tools that we’ve given them in this new facility.”

By GlobalDataThe development is scheduled to be finished in late 2025. The $65m investment in the project is expected to benefit more than 900 preschool through fifth-grade children, as well as teachers and staff.
Greater Clark County School District superintendent Mark Laughner said: “I can’t begin to tell you how many construction meetings we’ve sat in over the last two or three years; it’s been a lot, but it’ll be worth it when it’s all done.
“This is one of three elementary schools that will be built like I said earlier that will replace five of our oldest buildings in the district.”
