IMA Life North America, a division of the Italian IMA Group, has revealed its plans to build an 80,000ft² facility in Tonawanda, New York, US.
The group specialises in the field of aseptic drug processing and freeze-drying equipment.
Its product range includes blowers, washers, automatic loaders/unloaders, liquid and powder fillers, and more.
Montante Construction has been tasked with the design and construction of the new facility, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
IMA Life North America is set to invest $30m in building the structure, aimed at increasing its production capabilities for the pharmaceutical industry.
Montante Construction president Doug Elia said: “Our team created innovative design and building solutions for the new building, enabling IMA to forge ahead with a challenging project that will bring value to our region through cutting-edge products and jobs in the pharmaceutical sector.”

By GlobalDataTo be situated on a 15-acre site at 700 Colvin Woods Parkway, the new building will comprise 50,000ft² of production space and 30,000ft² of office space.
This expansion will complement IMA Life’s existing 60,000ft² facility at 2175 Military Road.
The large freeze dryers produced there are noted to have the ability to transform vials of liquid medicines and other pharmaceutical products into a powdered form.
This process is said to ensure that the products are shelf-stable and easier to transport.
New York governor Kathy Hochul said: “New York is continuing to bring the companies, the investment, and the talent to build the future of medicine in our state.
“IMA Life’s investment in Western New York will help provide the critical equipment needed for pharmaceutical companies to manufacturer [manufacture] life-saving drugs, while also creating the jobs needed to grow and support the healthcare sector.”
