The International Code Council (ICC) has bolstered its partnership with Saudi authorities to enhance building code compliance, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, according to a press release posted on Zawya.
The collaboration with the Saudi Building Code (SBC) National Committee and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs aims to improve building safety and encourage innovation in the country’s construction sector.
A key outcome of this partnership is the evaluation and issuance of a Code Compliance Report for a locally produced floor and roof panel system.
The report assesses the system’s compliance with the SBC, focusing on structural integrity, fire resistance, and physical properties, which facilitates a more efficient permitting process for local authorities.
At the Cityscape Global exhibition in Saudi capital Riyadh, ICC participated in a panel discussion with Saudi officials on the adoption of sustainable building systems.
ICC presented its range of services, including code compliance and certification, essential for the uptake of modern construction technologies. ICC also announced plans to establish a Riyadh office to support the adoption of these services and aid the kingdom’s reported vision for innovative construction practices.
