Iberdrola has started building the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm, which can power around 1.3 million homes.
Situated off the coast of Norfolk in the UK, the new 1.4GW facility will be a part of the East Anglia Hub macro-complex, along with the upcoming East Anglia One North and East Anglia Two developments.
This hub will entail an investment of £6.5bn (around €7.7bn) for the installation of 3,000 MW of capacity.
Currently, Iberdrola already operates a farm called East Anglia One in the same area through its subsidiary ScottishPower. East Anglia One, with 714 MW, capable of generating renewable energy for 630,000 British homes.
Construction work on East Anglia Three has started on the ground level. The plant is anticipated to start generating energy in 2026.
The initial phase will involve onshore work in the county of Suffolk. This will include installing an onshore substation, in collaboration with Siemens Energy. NKT will be responsible for the cable network.
