Clark Construction Group has announced the topping out of the IAH Terminal B Transformation – Central Processor project at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas.
This expansion and renovation project spans 525,000ft2.
The project, commissioned by United Airlines, broke ground in 2024 and is expected to improve the ticket hall, security screening, baggage handling systems, and the terminal’s post-security area.
To date, crews have dedicated over 290,000 hours to the project, installed 2,200t of steel, and executed a complex tandem crane pick to set a 180t truss that forms the support structure for the security screening checkpoint.
Representatives from Clark Construction Group, United Airlines, project architects Page/Grimshaw, and Houston Airport Systems, along with project partners and crews, gathered to commemorate the topping out of the IAH Terminal B Transformation.
The project is on track for completion in the fall of 2026.
Clark Construction vice president Andy Fuhrmann said: “The team has reached numerous incremental milestones in order to complete the steel structure. This milestone reflects the unwavering dedication of our crews, the strong collaboration with United, our design partners, and the support of many others—all working together to move us closer to delivering a truly transformative terminal to passengers and airport personnel.”
In addition to the IAH Terminal B project, Clark Construction Group has also celebrated the topping out of the Transformation Center for non-profit organisation City of Refuge in Atlanta.
This 37,000ft2 mixed-use facility, which broke ground in 2024, will offer economic, health, and wellness services to empower local residents, including veterans and returning citizens.
The three-storey building will feature 25 affordable housing units and community amenities such as a clinic, credit union, and fresh food market.
Crews have worked over 30,000 hours, imported over 5,000m3 of dirt, and installed more than 130t of steel, with completion expected in late fall 2025.
City of Refuge founder and CEO Bruce Deel said: “We are incredibly grateful to Clark Construction and all of our dedicated partners and project teams who have helped bring the Transformation Center to this exciting milestone. The topping out of this facility marks far more than the completion of a structural phase—it represents a powerful step forward in our continued mission to bring hope, transformation, and opportunity to individuals and families on Atlanta’s Westside. With 25 affordable housing units and essential services like healthcare, financial access, and fresh food all under one roof, this centre will be a place where lives are changed and futures are rebuilt.”
“This project is a reflection of what can be accomplished when people come together with purpose and passion. We look forward to the day we open the doors and welcome our community into a space built for empowerment, dignity, and lasting impact.”
In August 2024, Clark Construction Group, in collaboration with the SmithGroup + HKS Joint Venture, initiated construction of the new El Paso VA Health Care Centre at Fort Bliss, Texas.
