The UK’s Strategic Development Committee of London has granted planning approval for phases two and three of 800-unit housing scheme, which is being developed by the Mount Anvilin partnership with ExCel London.
This Royal Eden Docks development is located on Western Gateway, Royal Victoria Dock, in the London Borough of Newham.
It adjoins Royal Docks West, a 19-storey tower launched to market in early 2017 and now 90% sold.
The two phases designed by the architect SOM will be called Royal Eden Docks and deliver 901 residencies.
The Royal Eden Docks project will feature 796 homes, with studios and apartments with one, two or three bedrooms.
Mount Anvil development director Emma Foster said: “Securing resolution to grant planning permission for phases two and three of Royal Eden Docks is a landmark moment for the site.

By GlobalData“The success of phase one demonstrated buyer demand for homes in this part of London, and in a period when the capital is gripped by an acute housing shortage, it’s important that we are working in partnership with the GLA to bolster the delivery of new homes for Londoners.
“Phase one brought substantial investment in the community and surrounding infrastructure, and we look forward to building on that investment with the construction of phases two and three.
“The Royal Docks is one of London’s last pockets of regeneration, and Mount Anvil is proud to be shaping the area for future generations, with the delivery of high-quality, tenure-blind new homes and amenities, and helping to establish it as a sought-after place to live.”
ExCel London CEO Jeremy Rees said: “I’m delighted with this latest planning success and our collaborative partnership with Mount Anvil. They’ve helped add significant value to our site and have delivered what they said they would. Their technical skills, strong political network and all-round decency make them excellent partners to work with.”
The construction of the new houses will begin in late 2019 and is expected to complete by 2024.
