Approximately 300 organisations have joined Homes England’s new database to connect buyers and sellers of Section 106 affordable homes.
The UK government’s housing and regeneration agency revealed that more than 70 house builders have registered to list affordable homes with planning permission, alongside private homes that they have been unable to sell.
They join 140 registered providers and more than 70 local authorities already listed on the database.
Registered users, particularly sellers, are encouraged to provide additional details, including the location of sites, their construction progress, the number of homes at each site, and tenure types, apart from the basic registration details.
Homes England launched the Section 106 Affordable Housing Clearing Service last month.
Created based on sector feedback, the service aims to expedite the sale of unsold affordable homes across England, excluding its capital London.

I would urge house builders in particular to register and add as much detail as they can.
“Over 200 registered providers and local authorities have already signed up, and regularly checking for potential opportunities to acquire homes for the communities they serve.”
National Housing Federation CEO Kate Henderson said: “This clearing service is a welcome tool in tackling the current issue in the delivery of Section 106 affordable homes. Building new relationships between developers and social housing providers is important in overcoming the immediate challenges, as well as helping developers to understand the requirements of housing associations in the future.”
