Hensel Phelps has been appointed as the construction management/general contractor for the US Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Second Target Station (STS) project.
This project will be located at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in the country.
ORNL aims to enhance the capabilities of the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) by adding a new target station.
The STS project is set to enhance the neutron capabilities of the existing SNS First Target Station and the ORNL High Flux Isotope Reactor.
Together, these facilities offer a range of neutron tools that are said to be required for the development of advanced materials and innovations in both the physical and biological sciences.
Hensel Phelps, a company that specialises in building development, construction, and facility services, is currently in the preconstruction phase of the STS project.
