UK-based construction company Henry Brothers has secured the contract to construct a new £4m extension at Glossopdale School in Derbyshire.
The latest move follows the successfully completion of work on the £23m main school complex, which opened in 2018.
Under the contract, the company will be responsible for the construction of a two-storey classroom block, which will provide additional 240 places at the school.
Of the total, 200 spaces will be allotted for students aged 11 to 16 while the remaining 40 are for sixth form students.
Slated to be completed in Spring 2022, the additional block will also create additional social spaces and will be constructed to match the main complex of the school located in Hadfield, near Glossop.
Additionally, the construction company will also undertake the external work on the site along with developing the sports pitches.

By GlobalDataHenry Brothers stated that the additional block has been designed by DLA Architecture together with Derbyshire County Council and the school. The council is funding the development of the project.
Other team members of the project include civil and structural engineer Curtins and Couch Perry Wilkes for mechanical and electrical services.
Henry Brothers Midlands managing director Ian Taylor said: “We are excited to have been appointed to build this additional block at Glossopdale School – the latest in a number of projects that we have delivered for schools in Derbyshire and following on from our successful partnership to build the main school complex at this site.
“The new development will nestle into an existing bank on the south side of the school and will be accessed via a covered walkway into the top floor, with an outdoor stairway down to playgrounds and fields below.”
