Harworth Group has secured planning permission for a new industrial and logistics development at its Gascoigne Interchange site in Leeds, England, UK.
North Yorkshire Council’s Strategic Planning Committee has given its approval for the development plans.
It is in line with Harworth’s strategy of developing industrial spaces directly from its land bank.
The company noted that the resolution to grant planning permission is subject to the completion of an s106 agreement.
Harworth CEO Lynda Shillaw said: “Our development at Gascoigne Interchange is another example of Harworth’s unique ability to identify, acquire and transform brownfield sites to generate value, create jobs and increase investment in the region.
“This development complements Harworth’s extensive pipeline of industrial and logistics sites and we continue to see high demand for high-specification strategically connected Grade A industrial space.”

This development is expected to add approximately £190m ($240.84m) in gross development value to the area.
Harworth is planning to start construction next year, with the intention to build seven units ranging in size from 57,000ft² to one million square feet.
The Gascoigne Interchange site, situated in Selby, east of Leeds, is adjacent to the Sherburn Industrial Estate.
The northern section of the site is said to have the potential to incorporate a railhead to support the on-site buildings, which would enhance container handling and express freight services.
Furthermore, the southern plots have 1,200m of frontage on the main line for an intermodal terminal that could cater to both on-site and external customers.
Additionally, the project’s location provides connectivity, with access via Junction 42 of the A1(M) and proximity to rail sidings along Network Rail’s Leeds to Hull main line.
In January this year, Harworth announced the commencement of construction on a mixed-use development named Olive Lane in Rotherham.
