GRAHAM, a privately owned construction company, has been chosen to lead the second stage of the Didcot and surrounding area major infrastructure (HIF1) scheme in the UK.
The project, which includes the design of the Clifton Hampden Bypass and Didcot to Culham River Crossing, aims to reduce traffic congestion, enhance journey times, and bolster connectivity between Didcot and adjacent areas.
It will also support the creation of new jobs and foster economic growth in the Science Vale region.
In December last year, the Didcot transport infrastructure scheme received planning approval from Angela Rayner, the UK’s housing secretary of state.
The detailed design for the second stage is currently underway, with construction anticipated to commence in early 2026.
The procurement of GRAHAM for the projects was enabled via the Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) Construction Works and Associated Services framework.

“This collaborative approach has enabled us to develop the detailed design for these significant infrastructure projects while actively engaging with third-party stakeholders such as Thames Water and Openreach to coordinate necessary utility diversions.”

“This transformative infrastructure development will offer more sustainable travel options in and around Didcot and support the creation of new jobs and economic growth in the Science Vale region.”
GRAHAM has also recently announced the topping out of the Bendigo Building, a new £70m ($87.1m) student accommodation development in Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, England.
