UK-based construction company GRAHAM Group has achieved a milestone in its commitment to sustainability by securing validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets.

This validation recognises the group’s climate goals as being in line with the most current climate science and supportive of the Paris Agreement’s aim to keep global warming below 1.5°C.

GRAHAM is now one of the construction companies adhering to the SBTi’s Corporate Net-Zero Standard and is actively taking responsibility for climate action.

GRAHAM Environmental Sustainability head Lianne Taylor said: “We are thrilled to be moving forward with our SBTi net-zero targets. Aligning with the SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard helps to ensure that our approach is credible, transparent, and science-based.”

The company has committed to achieving net-zero GHG emissions across its value chain by financial year 2040 (FY40).

Its near-term target includes a 50% reduction in absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by FY30 from the FY22 base year. Additionally, GRAHAM aims to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 40% within the same timeframe.
