The GelreGroen consortium has signed a contract with Rijkswaterstaat, part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management, for the development of the A12/A15 highway Ressen-Oudbroeken (ViA15) project in the Netherlands.
As part of the contract, the consortium will extend the A15 by a further 12km and widen stretches for more than 23km of the A12 and A15 by adding extra lanes.

The GelreGroen consortium includes HOCHTIEF with a 40% stake, John Laing holds a 40% stake, Dura Vermeer with a 10% interest and BESIX has the remaining 10% stake.
The project design, construction and maintenance works will be executed by a consortium of HOCHTIEF (25%), Dura Vermeer (25%), BESIX (25%) and Van Oord (25%).
Scheduled to begin by the end of this year, the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Besides the design and construction, the contract also includes finance and operations and maintenance of the motorway until 2044.
The A12/A15 highway Ressen-Oudbroeken (ViA15) project is expected to improve traffic at the important section between the harbour of Rotterdam and Germany. It is also expected to increase traffic safety and improve the regional quality of life.

By GlobalDataThe project includes the construction of 45 bridges, 10 road junctions and additional noise barriers. The centrepiece of the new road will be the new bridge over the Pannerdensch Canal, with a length of about 2.5km.
Van Oord Netherlands director Richard Brouwer said: “We are proud to be an integral part of this infrastructural project where sustainability is one of the focus points. We are looking forward to contribute to the robust solution for traffic congestion in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region.”
In December 2019, Rijkswaterstaat has provisionally awarded the contract to the GelreGroen consortium, on the basis of its submission of ‘Economically Most Advantageous Tender (EMAT)’ with focus on sustainability, risk management and the level of traffic hindrance.
