Gammon Construction has bagged a £300m (HK$2.6bn) contract from Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group to build a new office building in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.
The scope of work under the contract features construction of a 25-storey office building with retail facilities.
Gammon will also build footbridges to link the office block with the World Trade Centre Hong Kong as well as the shopping centre.
This new contract comes after the appointment of the company to demolish Excelsior Hotel that earlier occupied the site of this yet-to-constructed office building.
To improve collaboration and efficiencies, Gammon will adopt smart construction processes, which includes creating a common data environment among contractors, consultants, supply chain partners, and the client.
The company will deploy Enertainer, an electric-powered battery storage system built in partnership with AMPD Energy, to decrease the project’s carbon emissions and achieve BEAM Plus New Buildings Version 2.0 and LEED platinum certifications.
