Farrans Construction, a building and civil engineering company, has secured the phase two contract for Leeds Bradford Airport’s (LBA) £100m ($124m) regeneration project in the UK.
This phase will focus on upgrading terminal facilities at the site to improve functionality and support regional growth.
The ongoing first phase of the project, a 9,500m² three-storey terminal extension, is set for completion in mid-2025.
Farrans said the latest upgrades will provide more seating, faster security, new retail and dining options, an expanded baggage reclaim area, and improved accessibility for passengers with restricted mobility.
In the second phase, Farrans will carry out a full refurbishment of the existing terminal in multiple subphases to minimise disruption at the airport.
Upgrades include new staircases and lifts to create an open-plan layout that complements the terminal’s extension.

By GlobalDataFarrans aims to complete the second phase by late 2026.
By 2030, the regeneration is anticipated to create 1,500 direct jobs at LBA, as well as 4,000 indirect jobs and contribute £940m to the local economy.
The regeneration also aligns with LBA’s commitment to environmental sustainability, supporting its 2030 net-zero carbon roadmap through the installation of all-electric heating, lighting, and machinery, and encouraging the use of more efficient aircraft at the airport.
LBA CEO Vincent Hodder said: “We are delighted to be working with Farrans on phase two of our LBA: REGEN project. We have already created a strong working relationship with the team on phase one and as we transition into phase two, we are excited to be able to take our customers along with us on this journey.
“It is also an opportunity to let our customers know that while this important work gets underway, there will be temporary changes to the terminal while we deliver this new and improved customer experience.”
In July 2024, Farrans Construction completed a multimillion-pound recladding and remediation project at Beacon Tower in Bristol, UK.
The work involved replacing the existing exterior high-pressure laminate cladding and render system to ensure fire safety compliance while preserving the building’s original appearance.
