Dorchester Living, the developer behind Heyford Park, has submitted a scoping request to Cherwell District Council for a 6,000-home master plan in Oxfordshire, UK.

This submission follows two years of consultations and the development of a new master plan, according to the company’s LinkedIn post

The proposed master plan aims to add 6,000 additional dwellings to the community, including affordable housing options.

The request has been submitted ahead of a planning application preparation.

The creation of 3,000 new jobs is anticipated, stemming from 50,000m² of commercial space dedicated to cleantech industries.

A new railway station with direct links to London and Birmingham, a new central park and other open spaces, and more are also a part of the plan.

Dorchester Living CEO Paul Silver said: “In recent weeks the new government has made clear that it is committed to enabling a major house-building and infrastructure programme to deliver the homes and facilities that the country needs.

“A focus on brownfield-first development and the provision of high-quality, mixed-tenure homes sits at the heart of this, and we at Dorchester Living fully support its ambition and we are ready to play our role in helping to achieve it.”

Heyford Park in Oxfordshire is a new settlement, situated on the site of the former Royal Air Force Upper Heyford airfield, ten minutes from Bicester.

The development has already seen the construction of more than 1,200 new homes of various tenures, a Village Centre, and more since Dorchester Living acquired the site in 2009.

Silver added: “Heyford Park is perfectly placed to accommodate more growth – being a disused airfield – and our master plan would not only deliver thousands of new mixed-tenure homes, but also jobs, commercial space and major new sustainable transport infrastructure. We are looking forward to working with Cherwell District Council as we further develop our master-plan proposals.”
