Real estate builders and construction company Darwish Engineering Emirate has secured a contract from DAMAC Properties for the Damac Lagoons project in DAMAC Hills, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

DAMAC Lagoons is the third master community of DAMAC Hills, and the estimated value of this contract is Dh1.2bn ($326m).

Stretching across 4.5 million square metres, this community will be divided into various clusters, each expressing the character of a prominent Mediterranean city.

The clusters include Venice, Morocco, Ibiza, Malta, Marbella, Mykonos, Santorini, Monte Carlo, Nice, and Portofino.

The project’s scope includes a major works package for the 275 villas in the Venice-based cluster.

The community will include approximately 9,000 villas with a total gross floor area of 2.3 million square metres.

It will also feature 176,650m² of water areas, which is said to be larger than 141 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Upon completion, the community will have the capacity to accommodate more than 39,400 people.

Furthermore, DAMAC Lagoons will feature a clubhouse, green meadows, retail stores, a floating amphitheatre, kids’ play zones, crystal lagoons, a waterpark, an inland white beach, fitness facilities, a wave pool, and a water movie theatre.

So far, the master development has granted contracts totalling nearly Dh7bn.

The project is currently seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification, with the goal of becoming one of the first master communities in the UAE to acquire the rating under the LEED Cities and Communities Rating System.
