The Fondsimmobilier de solidarité FTQ has partnered with Cogir Real Estate to construct the new UniCité rental residential project in Canada.

To be constructed on Molson Street in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, Montréal, the new building will accommodate 175 units and 32,292ft² of commercial space on the ground floor, which would be occupied by an IGA supermarket.

Cogir Real Estate multi-residential operations vice-president Jean-Marc Bélanger said: “The UniCité project is located in a vibrant area where the potential for residential development is expected to grow.

“It offers real added value to a neighbourhood that has undergone a major revitalisation in recent years.”

“With its terrace, pool, urban chalet, fitness room, indoor parking and an IGA supermarket on the ground floor, it offers real added value to a neighbourhood that has undergone a major revitalisation in recent years.”

The structure will also feature 28 community housing units managed by a housing cooperative with the help of social economy enterprise Bâtir son quartier.

Fondsimmobilier de solidarité FTQ president and CEO Normand Bélanger said: “UniCité is a comprehensive project that will create some 400 jobs. With access to Pélicanpark, bicycle paths and public transit, it’s a great housing option for both young families and retirees.”

The 67,725ft² building will include seven aboveground floors and an outdoor pool on top of the commercial space.

Other amenities will include a fitness room on the first floor, 5,080ft² of additional commercial space for convenience stores, bicycle racks, and two-storey underground space to park 148 cars.
