DP World has initiated the construction of its Dh550m ($150m) Agri Terminals facility at Jebel Ali Port, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a strategic move to enhance food security and supply chain in the UAE.
Being developed in partnership with Adroit Overseas Canada and Al Amir Foods, the project is expected to revolutionise the storage and processing of agricultural commodities such as pulses, grains, corn, and soybeans.
Covering an area of nearly 100,000m², the Agri Terminals will be dedicated to integrated agricultural processing and silo storage.
The facility will use infrastructure like pneumatic ship unloaders and advanced conveying equipment.
DP World CEO and group chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem said: “This investment will add world-class infrastructure to our flagship port, support national efforts to strengthen food security and significantly expand our flourishing agricultural trade ecosystem in Dubai.”
With a total storage capacity of 200,000 tonnes (t), the terminal is designed for efficient commodity transfer from ship to facility via an advanced conveyor belt system.
