US liquefied natural gas exporter Cheniere Energy has signed agreement with subsidiaries of Whistler Pipeline to form a joint venture to build the ADCC natural gas pipeline.
This move comes as there is a growing demand for US liquefied natural gas in Europe, reported Reuters.
Europe is struggling to cope with loss of gas from Russia after the latter has been imposed with western sanctions following its military incursion on Ukraine.
The pipeline will run for about 43 miles, from Whistler’s terminus to Cheniere’s Corpus Christi liquefaction facility in Texas.
The 42-inch pipeline will be able to carry up to 1.7 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) of natural gas. It is expandable to 2.5 bcf/d.
The pipeline is anticipated to come into service in 2024, following regulatory approvals.
