Willmott Dixon has been selected for the £27m ($34.77m) campus redevelopment at Cheadle College, which is a part of the Trafford & Stockport College Group, in the UK.

The project, procured through the Procure Partnerships Framework, is expected to be completed in late 2025.

The redevelopment will enable Cheadle College to provide a range of courses, including A levels in sport, health, horticulture, and others.

Additionally, the college will introduce industry-focused T-level programmes in health, childcare, and education.

Trafford & Stockport College Group principal and CEO James Scott said: “The college’s existing buildings and teaching spaces are outdated and would have required significant modernisation and reconfiguration to meet current and future educational needs.

“Given the impracticality and inefficiency of upgrading this ageing infrastructure, the redevelopment offers a unique opportunity to construct a new campus with high-quality facilities.

“These new facilities will cater to a vast range of needs and significantly enhance the educational environment for our students.”

The planned campus will include a new learning resource centre, student services, and dedicated social spaces.

With attention to the college’s ‘Choices’ students, the campus is also set to feature a dedicated garden and sensory room tailored to their needs.

The campus will incorporate sustainable elements such as photovoltaic panels, air-source heat pumps, energy-efficient lighting controls, solar-efficient glazing, and more.

Willmott Dixon north operations director Mike Lane said: “This is a project being built by local people for local people and £9m of our project spend will go on local businesses based within 20 miles of the college.

“We are passionate about creating employment opportunities and skills in this community and will deliver a social value return on investment of £7m.”

This announcement comes just after Consortium Staffordshire Campus Living appointed Willmott Dixon for the construction of a Student Village at Staffordshire University’s Stoke-on-Trent campus.
