CertainTeed Roofing, the building products subsidiary of French company Saint-Gobain, has broken ground on a new advanced roofing manufacturing and distribution centre in Bryan, Texas, US.
This multiyear project will allow the company to expand its footprint and line of goods in Texas and the Southern US.
The shared location of the manufacturing and distribution facilities will shorten the time and distance taken for the product to reach the market and reduce the carbon footprint of the company, thereby contributing to Saint-Gobain’s aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
CertainTeed Roofing vice-president and general manager Carmen Bodden said: “With the support of Union Pacific, our new warehouse in Bryan will fully optimise the use of rail transportation, which helps to minimise our carbon footprint for generations to come and live our purpose of ‘Making the World a Better Home’.”
The facility marks CertainTeed’s first roofing plant since its Missouri, US, plant was completed in 2016.
It also coincides with Saint-Gobain’s ongoing execution of its global Grow & Impact strategy, which includes growing the company’s footprint in crucial and rapidly expanding markets.
