Philippines’ Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced the completion of the construction of Central Logistics Centre in Balatan, Camarines Sur.
The construction of the facility was undertaken by the Camarines Sur 5th District Engineering Office (DEO).
This new logistics centre, costing 19.3m pesos ($337,336.01), spans 1,080m2, and will serve as a transportation and warehouse hub in the area.
It includes air-conditioned office space, a utility room, a dedicated logistics area, and separate comfort rooms for males and females.
The building is fully furnished and designed to meet various community needs.
It will also serve as a venue for town events, meetings, workshops, and trainings, and can double as an evacuation site during calamities.

By GlobalDataDPWH Regional Office 5 director Virgilio C. Eduarte said: “This facility with its contemporary features and view of the scenic coastline, is expected to improve transactions significant in terms of goods distribution in the area.”
Meanwhile, DPWH has also completed a road rehabilitation project in Valencia, Bukidnon.
The project involved the expansion and improvement of a 619m section of the Sayre Highway.
The Sayre Highway project, which cost 40.8m pesos, saw the expansion of the road from four to six lanes.
This project also included reconstruction of damaged lanes, and installation of pavement markings and solar light posts.
DPWH-Region 10 director Zenaida T. Tan said: “These improvements resulted to enhanced safety and accessibility of the area not just for locals but also for delivery vehicles regularly traversing this route.”
The roadworks were carried out by the DPWH Bukidnon 1st District Engineering Office and funded through the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
Last month, DPWH commenced civil works for the deep foundations of the Samal Island-Davao City Connector project.
Construction of the 4.07km bridge includes land and marine viaducts.
