Finnish transmission system operator Fingrid has chosen technical solutions provider Caverion to construct the Siuntio substation project in the Helsinki region of Finland.
The estimated value of the project, which is expected to boost the operational reliability of the electricity network, is approximately €10m.
Fingrid project manager Ville-Petteri Haljala said: “We are building, renewing, and expanding substations in the Helsinki region and thus securing a reliable electricity supply.
“The project is also important for Microsoft’s data centre in Vihti, as it will be connected to the Kopula substation with three 110kV connections.”
The current 400/110kV substation’s 110kV switchyard will be expanded as part of the project.
Furthermore, significant changes will be carried out to the existing yard structures in Kopula’s 110kV switchyard. The site’s protection and automation system and its new control centre structure will be replaced.
