Multitechnical service provider Bravida has secured a contract from Enköping Municipality in Sweden to undertake electrical, plumbing, sanitation, ventilation, and control systems during the construction phase of a wastewater treatment plant.

The installations are worth Skr160m and are intended to cut down the discharge of effluents into the nearby Lake Mälaren.

This updated facility could aid the municipality in meeting its environmental standards for wastewater.

The project will feature the construction of buildings and basins that can treat the water both biologically and chemically across several phases.

Enköping Municipality water and wastewater acting head Danielle Littlewood said: “A new treatment plant is a crucial requirement for the municipality to be able to grow and for us to be able to meet future demands for treatment while reducing effluents discharged into Lake Mälaren.

“Bravida met our high standards in terms of experience, competence and environmental-management systems.

The contract also covers offices and service buildings.

Bravida Uppland commercial projects head Magnus Ramström said: “The project is fully in line with Bravida’s vision to lead the way towards a sustainable and resilient society.

“It requires expertise, which is where Bravida’s technical know-how comes into its own, and the long-term aim is to secure clean drinking water for the people living in Mälardalen.”

The works at the facility are anticipated to commence in October next year with the project’s completion expected in June 2027.

Earlier this month, Enköping Municipality contracted NCC to build a wastewater treatment plant.
